This journal shares reflections on creativity, jazz, improvisation, and the shared experience of making music, along with occasional updates on performances, teaching, and community work.

Dance party will mean New Century Dance Orchestra will provide jazz from the 1920’s, 30’s & 40’s and we’ll have dancers doing lindy hop, jitterbug and other ballroom dances. Dance and more Dance, we’ll have a historical concert presenting how tap dance was part of the formation and tradition of jazz working with Katherine Kramer and Jenai Cutcher. More to come with possible other musicians and dancers.

Madison Jazz Society and MMSD join together to offer Jazz Residency program in Madison middle schools for music students with concert for the entire student body.
Laurie teaches students and teachers in 3-4 week school residency to learn to improvise over blues and modal jazz tunes. Each residency ends in a performance by professional band and students of the middle school for their peers, parents and teachers.
